Tour the construction site: four-year update
We’ve hit four years of construction on our new St. Paul’s Hospital! From a deep excavation in year one, to 80% completion on our exterior facades, work is humming along. Check out our progress.
The focus now: completing exterior façade finishes as well as interior finishes, like drywall, vinyl floors, doors and sinks.
Did you know?
- 15 football fields can fit onto our new campus site, almost three times our current Burrard Street site.
- 37 elevators will be available for either public and/or staff use.
- 1,711 hand hygiene sinks will be available throughout the hospital for public and/or staff.
Over 7,000 doors are being installed throughout the new hospital!
PCL Construction hosts its annual workers' appreciation BBQ. Huge thanks to nearly 2,000 skilled tradespeople who are working on site to bring us closer to opening day in 2027!

Compassionate. Patient-centred. Collaborative. We celebrated National Nursing Week by highlighting a few nurses helping us design and prepare for the new St. Paul’s Hospital.

Progress next door
Excavation is underway for the future Clinical Support and Research Centre (CSRC), and we're already 9 metres deep! Construction is progressing smoothly, with the first concrete pour anticipated in November.
The CSRC will help move innovative solutions and research into real-world solutions.
As the CSRC Project Team wraps up the design phase, they marked the milestone with a two-day open house that welcomed over 400 research, medical and corporate staff. The event sparked strong interest and excitement about what’s to come.
The CSRC will be a cornerstone of innovation and collaboration at the new St. Paul’s Hospital—stay tuned as this transformative project continues to take shape.
Staff take virtual tours of spaces inside the CSRC, including the Innovation Centre, childcare centre, medical areas, and cutting-edge research labs.

In the community
It’s officially summer, and our Major Capital Projects and Recruitment teams are in the community! We had a blast meeting community members and chatting about our new campus and job opportunities. It turns out, both little and big kids alike enjoy getting their faces painted!
